There is a special product that works wonders on dolls skin AND hair it's called Vinylex. You can find it at stores that sell car stuff because that's what it's commonly used for. I got my bottle at Ace hardware.

Welcome to the board.
My cousin had gotten the doll cleaning kit and she said that yes it is just baking soda.

Thanks for all your great feedback!!!
I told my DD what you all said and she is so happy! She can use all of her money on Jess now!
I think we'll go to Sally's tomorrow, weather permitting, to see if they have a small wig brush. She doesn't want to wait to order one from AG plus the shipping is so high. Maybe we'll get a cheap one then add the AG one to our Jess order....
Anyway...she wants her own box of baking soda and an empty cream jar to put it in so she can make it easy to use she says,,,lol
Thanks Again!

Don't forget 3Castles to use the code when ordering Jess. 149921 It is for 10% off total order before shipping. Get the most out of your buck.
Sally's has a hair brush for about $3. and you can get wig shampoo there also about $4.

With all the TLC that your daughter is using, she will probably never need this, but feel free to check out my "Restoration" album in my signature.

You probably won't need to wash this doll's hair for a good long time, but when you do, I suggest making sure that the wig shampoo that you get is for synthetic wigs, rather than human hair wigs. They would each have a different chemical make-up, since human hair is so different from synthetic hair.

I want to also underline what someone said earlier about cautioning your daughter to not use items on the doll's hair that had been used in human hair, and add that she should also not use the doll's brush for her own hair.
Have fun!

She saw the doll cleaning powder in the catalog and thought that she should order that so that she could clean her periodically since she plays with her ALL the time. Is this worth the money or is there some type of home remedy that would work just as good??
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Spare yourself the mess of baking soda, and get a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser instead. It puts baking soda to shame.

I use bakeing soda and the Mr.clean Magic Eraser. But I get the dolls limbs a tiny bit wet before I put the bakeing soda on, and I let it sit for about 15 min. Be careful on the painted areas though! Cleaners and bakeing soda can cause paint to come off. GOOD LUCK!!!

You can get small misting bottles at Michael's for about $1.19, somewhat larger than the AG bottle, so the water lasts longer between refills.

We had a GREAT DAY!!!
Got 3 AG books for $.10 each!!!
Got a pair of bedroom slippers that fit (not AG brand) and a winter hat that fits. Also lucked up at the last store and got a dressing table stool! We did purchase the wig brush and the misting bottle. (both for $3!!)
Got home and guess what???? Got the starry night outfit on ebay BIN for $12.60!!!! I've been wanting this because DD has a hand me down Starry Night for Girls but, whew! The prices on ebay have been outrageous!!!
To top it all off, my DD got extra birthday money from aunts and friends this afternoon and has enough $ to order Jess!!!! She wants to wait until the end of the week to see if she'll have enough to get the accessories set also. She says that Jess will be lonesome without her monkey!!! LOL
WE HAD A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!!!

Also, thanks to all of you for the tip about not using DD's hair scrunchies etc. on her doll. She has been doing some of that but, I told her what ya'll said and she won't anymore. I wish they'd include a doll care guide with the dolls when you buy them so use 'newbies' would know!
